— Hi, I’m Michelle Giddings a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
My career in nursing has helped to form my character and challenged me to be non-judgmental and to perform acts that I sometimes doubted I was capable of doing.
It has given me the opportunity to reach people at their highest and at their lowest points in life and actually make a difference in their outcome. So, to answer the question, “What do I like about working in nursing/mental health?” My simple response is, “What’s not to like?” Cliché.
Caring With Passion
I have a deep sense of obligation to my clients and the care they receive because of their great impact on me:
from the 40 year old first time mother who coded and passed away after giving birth to a cute baby, to the cocaine addicted mother who suffered fetal demise or fulfilling the last wish of a mother for her dying little boy.

Substance abuse and behavioral issues are not only destructive, they may also alienate families and friends. Families must realize when their loved one has crossed the line to substance abuse. Early warning signs and red flags such as hostility, excessive drinking, mood swings etc should not be ignored. The first step to recovery is to recognize the problem and the need for help.
